Product Information

How much does it cost to run an electric fireplace?

Electric fireplaces can be enjoyed all year round — the flame and heat work separately, so you keep the ambience even in summer.

In Malta, electricity costs around €0.125/kWh. Based on 4 hours of daily use for a full year:

  • Flame only: under €7 per year — average 25 W per hour.
  • Flame + heat (6 months): about €85–€95 per year in total.

That’s typically around €0.15/hour.

How much heat do electric fireplaces generate?

Most models provide between 750 W and 2 kW of heat (about 2,500–9,000 BTU), ideal for a 20–25 m² living area. Enjoy the flame with or without heat.

How safe are electric fireplaces?

They’re extremely safe and family-friendly: no real flame, no smoke, and no carbon monoxide. The glass stays cool to the touch, and built-in safety sensors prevent overheating — great for homes with kids or pets.

Are electric fireplaces safe for pets?

Yes — electric fireplaces are safe for cats and dogs. There are no sparks, fumes, or hot embers, and most glass fronts are warm but not scalding. Overheat protection automatically switches the unit off if airflow is blocked.

How is the flame created?

It’s an illusion of light and movement using efficient LED projection and reflective surfaces. Some premium models use ultra-fine water vapour to deliver a 3D, lifelike “smoke” effect — totally safe and emission-free. Some new models also use LCD screen flame technology for ultra-realistic visuals.

Can I change the media inside the fireplace?

Yes. Many models include crystals, stones, or driftwood logs that you can swap to match your décor. With no combustion, decorative media options are broad and safe.

Do electric fireplaces need maintenance?

Almost none — no ash, no chimney, and no annual servicing. Wipe the glass occasionally and enjoy. LED flame systems last for tens of thousands of hours, and the heaters are typically maintenance-free.

Can I control the fireplace remotely or with Wi-Fi?

Yes. Most models include a remote for flame, heat, and timer control. Many premium models also offer Wi-Fi/app connectivity so you can set the ambience from your phone — even before you get home.

Installation & Design

Is it okay to put my TV above an electric fireplace?

Yes. Most units vent heat from the front or bottom, making them safe below a TV. Always observe the model’s clearance guidelines for best airflow, but in most cases electric fires require minimal spaces.

How wide should my fireplace be compared to my TV?

As a rule of thumb, choose a fireplace at least as wide as your TV — ideally 10–15 cm wider on each side for balanced proportions. With today’s 50–75" TVs, fireplaces around 130–180 cm deliver a sleek, built-in look.

What are the electrical requirements?

Many models plug into a standard 13-amp, 3-pin plug socket. We recommend keeping this standard plug configuration. Our team can advise in-store if needed.

What clearance do I need?

Only minimal ventilation clearance — usually a few centimetres around the frame. No chimney or flue is required, which is ideal for apartments and modern homes. Each model comes with a set of instructions which must be followed.

Can I convert my existing wood or gas fireplace to electric?

Yes. Electric inserts are designed to slot into existing openings for a clean, mess-free conversion — eliminating smoke or gas and reducing maintenance. Many various sizes are available for retrofitting projects.

What’s the difference between wall-mount and built-in fireplaces?
  • Wall-mount: Mounts to the surface — quick install and easy to relocate.
  • Built-in: Recessed for a seamless built-in look — perfect for renovations or new builds. Customised into cabinetry or drywall for a sleek glass-only finish.
Can I install an electric fireplace in an apartment?

Absolutely. No flue or fuel supply required — just plug in for instant ambience and heat. It’s easy and looks great.

Do you have easy-installation options?

Yes. Choose a freestanding mantel suite that sits on the floor — plug in and enjoy — or a wall-hanging suite that combines the fire and decorative surround in one piece. Ideal for apartments and rentals with no renovation needed.

Unsure if it will work in my space — can you advise?

Visit us with your room photos or plans and our design team will recommend the right size, orientation, and finish for your layout and style.

How will an electric fireplace impact my home’s look and value?

They add modern appeal, comfort, and a focal point that buyers love — a low-maintenance upgrade with immediate visual impact. Many contractors use these units to create a strong focal point and perceived value in real-estate projects.

Rental and leasing units also benefit — adding an electric fireplace can instantly raise perceived luxury and allow higher rental rates. Because they’re safe, low-energy, and maintenance-free, they’re an easy upgrade that makes your apartment stand out in Malta’s competitive rental market.
